Our Palatine Optometrist Discusses the Difference between CRT, OrthoK, Corneal Molding, VST, and the Gentle Shaping System

Accelerated Overnight Orthokeratology or OrthoK, is a treatment in which custom designed, rigid, gas permeable corneal molds are worn nightly.

For children, studies from around the world have shown that OrthoK greatly slows the regular progression of nearsightness that can occur from wearing glasses or standard soft contact lenses.

Used for adults, OrthoK provides clear, comfortable daytime vision without the use of glasses or daytime contact lenses.

For patients of any age, OrthoK provides visual freedom to pursue sports of all types without the need of glasses.

CRT Contact Lenses

Corneal Refractive Therapy or CRT refers to the molds made by Paragon Vision to achieve these results as does the Vision Shaping Treatment or VST designs supplied by Euclid Systems, Contex, GP Specialists, Custom Craft, and other companies.

Corneal Molding, Corneal Reshaping, or as we call it; The Gentle Shaping System, are the names by which doctors refer to OrthoK in their practices.

Confused yet? Don’t be. CRT, VST, Corneal Molding, Corneal Reshaping, and The Gentle Shaping System ALL mean the same thing:

Accelerated Overnight Orthokeratology!
